Japanese Tea Ceremony
The Japanese tea ceremony, known as sado or chado, is a traditional Japanese ritual for preparing powdered green tea (matcha) with various prescribed steps and procedures. This program briefly provides a historical overview of the Japanese tea ceremony and demonstrates one of its simpler procedures, offering a glimpse into the tea ceremony experience. Cost is $25. A native of Japan, Dr. Nobuaki Takahashi is an Associate Professor of Japanese. He received his B.A. in English from Kanda University of International Studies, M.A. in Asian Civilization with a specialization in Japanese Language Pedagogy from the University of Iowa, and Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Iowa. He currently teaches a various levels of Japanese language courses.
Monthly Crystal Class with Koz: Luck and Abundance in March
Join us for the first class of our monthly crystal class series! For March this one-hour class will focus on stones traditionally used for luck and abundance. Dr. Michele Lee Kozimor (Ph.D., RMT) will teach about the crystal properties, meaning, uses, sourcing and cleaning. All participants will be given a set of green or gold crystals to take home. Additional crystals will also be available for purchase. Snacks and tea will be provided. Join us for a relaxing evening! Special Note: Complete any 3 monthly crystal classes and receive a selenite crystal grid and center stone to put your crystals from the classes on. Join us the third Friday of each month to learn more about a group of crystals. Upcoming classes: April 18 - Raise Your Vibration with Diamonds (including Herkimer and Cape May “diamonds”) May 16 - Pink crystals to warm the heart and soothe the soul. Cost is $25.
Yoga & Reiki
Join us for a 1-hour Go with the Flow vinyasa yoga class taught by Dr. Charla Lorenzen (Ph.D., E-RYT 500), followed by a 30-minute reiki experience led by Dr. Michele Kozimor (Ph.D., RMT) in which all participants can receive reiki if desired and learn about its benefits. Dr. Michele Lee Kozimor has been a Usui Reiki Master Teacher in the Western tradition (Usui Shiki Ryoho) since 2014. She studied under the guidance of Reiki Master Healer Teacher Kate Pruiett. Michele is also an award-winning professor of sociology at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania. According to Michele, reiki uniquely combines her metaphysical gifts, teaching skills, and scientific training. Michele specializes in reiki for horses and has personally used reiki to help both of her horses heal from injury and illness (including episodes of laminitis). She has also used reiki on her cats.
